GeneraVida
A confrontation between digital natures and architectures of obsolescence
Open exhibition →Context
GeneraVida is a visual arts exhibition exploring digital generative art, works created with mathematical algorithms, as a tool for discussing contemporary social issues. Supported by the 2023 Santo André Culture Fund grant, it was shown at Universidade Popular Nossa Casa from August 3 to September 1, 2024.
Multimedia artist Ricardo Palmieri investigates how nature and human action interact in a world dominated by digital technology, reflecting on the social consequences of these interactions.
Challenge
Organize the exhibition space to sustain a dialogue between two universes, the force of nature and the anti-architectures of obsolescence, while making it accessible to every audience.
Solution
The three-wall installation creates a visual progression: one wall dedicated to nature, another to architectures of obsolescence and, at the center, the interactive triptych Natureza Bruta versus Ação Humana - three 50-inch LED displays with real-time 3D digital creation in TouchDesigner, where the central video reflects the viewer.
Each work received its own soundtrack and audio description, accessible through QR codes in the exhibition. The program also included free Art and Mathematics and Generative Art workshops.
