SOMOS: The Creation of Ybirá-Ubuntu
A poetic and visceral journey through the post-Anthropocene

In the deep flow of time, a shaman walks through the dense forest carrying the ancestral wisdom of his people. Among roots and shadows he encounters Ybirá-Ubuntu, an entity emerging from the earth as guardian of a lost balance. Together they observe the Anthropocene, an era in which WE ARE the acceleration of natural processes pushing the planet toward exhaustion.
Challenge
Translate a reflection on the post-Anthropocene into audiovisual language, joining technology and spirituality, past, present and futures, in what the project calls tecnomagia.
Solution
The film combines digital and organic techniques to create a unique visual language, with video-mapping image direction, an original soundtrack and accessibility consulting. The short film was selected for LANAFF 2025, the Latin America New Media & Animation Film Festival.
